FAQ - (International students read carefully)

Q:

I am a Foreign National interested in coming to Canada to learn how to fly. do you work with international students?

Do I have to finish Ground School before I can start flying?

Are there any prerequisites I need before I can start flying?

When does your course start?

Is it better to do the training full-time or part-time?

How long does it take to complete the PPL?

When is the best time to start with flight training?

Where can I find accommodation during my flight training?

Is Guardian PCTIA regulated?*

A:

Yes! We have had many international students who have acquired licences or ratings with us. Most of them have found it preferable to study with us as we are located in a less densely populated area than other flight schools in B.C. The combination of competitive pricing and a lower cost of living make Guardian Aerospace a strong favorite. Study permits may be required for foreign students and applications must be made to Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

No. You can start taking flight lessons at any time. Before, during or after you start the Ground School.

No, although we suggest that you do your medical examination as soon as you start flying. Eventually you have to pass the medical examination, a language proficiency test, a written exam and flight test.

Flying is on a one-on-one basis, so you can start anytime and book as many flights your schedule allows. We start Ground School 3 times a year and offer Ground School online as well.

Full-time. Less time is spent reviewing air exercises when you fly more often. You will be able to finish sooner with less money spent.

It all depends on how hard you are willing to study and how often you fly. Around 2-4 months doing it full-time or 9-12 months part-time.

Anytime. We fly year round.

The local Classifieds can be good tools to find quality affordable accommodation. Our staff can help make sure you find comfortable and adequate accommodations.

No. Guardian Aerospace is not required to register with PCTIA. Other schools who have registered are required to charge extra fees that increase the cost to the student.

* Instructor Rating/CPL“Guardian Aerospace does not directly or jointly provide instructor rating/commercial pilot instruction and training. Persons wanting instructor rating/commercial pilot training will have a student contract with an educational institution that that is authorized by law to provide vocational or career training. Guardian is not so authorized under provincial law.

Guardian only provides instruction and training services to the authorized institution and not students. Issues that arise with institution-student services are between the student and the institution. Guardian may enter other separate service contracts with persons pursuing commercial license training with the institution, but those Guardian services will not involve instructor rating/CPL related instruction and training. They will only involve plane rentals.”

“Guardian Aerospace is an Air Charter Company, Flight Training Unit and Authorized Maintenance Organization that provides value based aviation services with focus on safety and professionalism.”
